KiwiCV Privacy Policy
KiwiCV scores a CV against New Zealand IT hiring. This policy explains what the app handles, what leaves your phone, and what stays on it.
1. What KiwiCV does
You pick a PDF resume on your device. The app extracts text from that PDF, sends that text to Google’s Gemini API, and shows a score plus a short breakdown. Scoring is limited to one successful analysis every 7 days.
This version does not rewrite your CV, create an account, or require you to sign in.
2. Information the app handles
When you analyse a CV, KiwiCV may process:
- The resume file you choose (PDF), including the text extracted from it. A resume often contains your name, contact details, work history, education, and other personal information you put in the document.
- The analysis result (overall score, category scores, and related text returned by the model).
- The file name of the PDF you selected.
- A local timestamp of your last successful analysis, used only to enforce the 7-day limit on this device.
We do not ask you to create a KiwiCV account, and we do not collect a separate email, phone number, or payment method in this version of the app.
3. What is sent off the device
To generate a score, extracted resume text is sent over HTTPS to Google’s Gemini API (Google LLC). Google processes that content to return the analysis.
KiwiCV currently uses Google’s Gemini API under our developer account. Google’s handling of API prompts and outputs is governed by Google’s terms and privacy policy for the Gemini API / Google AI, including any rules that apply to unpaid or paid usage. You should read those terms as well.
We do not sell your resume or analysis results. We do not use your CV to train our own models.

4. What stays on your device
Recent analysis history (file name, scores, and result text) is stored locally on your phone using the app’s on-device database. The 7-day analysis limit is also stored locally.
Android backup for this app is disabled, so this local history is not meant to be copied into your Google account backup.
Uninstalling KiwiCV deletes this local data. Clearing the app’s storage does the same.
5. Permissions
KiwiCV uses the Internet permission so it can call the Gemini API. You choose the PDF through the system file picker. The app does not require access to your full photo library or contacts.
6. Children
KiwiCV is not directed at children. Do not use it to submit a child’s personal information.
7. Payments (later)
The app is free to download. If we later add paid features (for example through Google Play billing), we will update this policy. Google Play would then process payment details under Google’s own terms. We still would not need your card number inside KiwiCV.
8. How long we keep data
We do not operate a KiwiCV user database in the cloud for this version. Resume text is sent to Google for the analysis request. Local history remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app.
9. Your choices
- Do not upload a CV if you do not want that text sent to Google for scoring.
- Remove personal details from a CV before analysing it if you want to limit what is processed.
- Delete the app, or clear app storage, to remove local history and the local 7-day limit on that device.
10. Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date. Material changes may also be noted in an app update.
